Our office is one of the only dental practices in Southwest Florida filing Medical Insurance for Oral Sleep Apnea appliances. In general, in order for your medical insurance to cove an oral appliance these requirements are needed:
- Current polysomnograph (sleep study)
- A written prescription for an oral sleep apnea appliances from your sleep medicine physician (dentists cannot diagnosis or prescribe oral sleep apnea appliances)
- A letter of non-compliance for your CPAP if you have been diagnosis with severe Obstructive Sleep Apnea
Remember, an oral sleep apnea appliance is a dental treatment for a medical condition. When we file for your appliance you are only responsible for your deductible and co-payment.
